How to wire money

Need to send some cash to someone in another state? You can do this by wiring money through your bank.

Make sure you have the following information:

-name of the recipient

-recipient’s bank and account number

-recipient’s American Banking Association’s routing number

-the address and phone numbers of your bank and the recipient’s banks

You can contact your bank by phone or check the internet to get the information above.

Determine the amount of money you will need to wire. Clarify when the money is needed because it might take a while to process.

Complete the transaction through your bank. You can go personally to your bank, or you can use the internet or you can use the phone or fax machine. It all depends on the banking services you can avail.

Don’t forget to confirm that the transaction took place. Ask for a faxed or e-mail confirmation receipt. Contact the recipient on the day the money should arrive and ask for confirmation as well.
